Ryan:

I became Lead Pastor at First Methodist Church of Waco in July 2017, having previously served churches in San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Kerrville. I am thrilled to be serving God at the most historic church in Waco. I work with an incredible team of pastors and lay people and together we are changing lives in central Texas, the United States, and around the world.

Family:

I am married to Kim Brooks Barnett of McAllen, Texas. Kim is a Physician’s Assistant who practices family medicine at Providence Family Health Clinic – Woodway Medical Plaza. We have one son, Davis who was born in 2015.

Like:

I love preaching, teaching classes, and setting up systems for effective church leadership. I have been engaged in development work in Rwanda and Costa Rica for over 10 years. With international partners, we have built schools, clinics, churches, and hospitals. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, playing with my son, and losing golf balls.

Education:

After graduating from Friendswood High School, I attended the University of Texas at Austin obtaining a degree in Government and a minor in History. I later attended Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky where I obtained a Master of Divinity. In 2016, I completed an MBA from Texas A&M, Corpus Christi.
