At First Methodist Waco, we believe that service in the church is one of the best ways to open our lives to God. It builds community and allows our love for Christ to extend into the lives of others. Everyone in our church family has a role to ensure we're a place where people can encounter God and feel at home. Whether you’re passionate about children, youth, music, hospitality, missions, or other areas, there’s a place for you to live out your faith in the First Family.
First Kids
We love creating spaces where children can experience God’s love in fun, meaningful ways. Our goal is to partner with parents to help kids grow in faith, learn God’s Word, and discover what it means to follow Jesus every day. Whether it’s rocking babies in the nursery, teaching a Bible story, or helping with crafts, every role makes an eternal difference.
First Youth
Our youth ministry walks alongside students through the ups and downs of middle and high school life. We’re all about building relationships, creating a safe space to ask questions, and helping students make their faith their own. Those who serve have the chance to invest deeply—leading small groups, serving at retreats, or simply showing up with care and consistency.
First College
College is a season of discovery and growth, and our ministry helps students stay rooted in Christ through it all. We gather for worship, meals, small groups, and service opportunities that build community and deepen faith. Those serving in this ministry can open their homes, lead discussions, or help host gatherings that remind students they belong here.
Adult Discipleship
At First Methodist, we believe spiritual growth happens best in community. Through Sunday School classes, small groups, Bible studies, and ministries specifically for men, women, and senior adults, adults of all ages can deepen their faith, build lasting relationships, and find encouragement for daily life. Our discipleship ministries provide spaces for connection, learning, and taking the next step in following Jesus together.
Music & Worship
Worship is at the heart of who we are as a church. From singing in the choir to playing an instrument, reading Scripture, or serving behind the scenes, our worship team helps create meaningful spaces where people can encounter God’s presence and respond with praise.
Hospitality & Welcome Team
A warm welcome can make all the difference. Our hospitality team helps every person who walks through our doors feel seen, known, and loved. From greeting on Sunday mornings to serving coffee or helping at special events, this team embodies the heart of hospitality that defines our church family.
Missions, Outreach, & Evangelism
We believe faith is active—it reaches beyond the church walls to share Christ’s love with our neighbors. Whether serving meals, visiting nursing homes, or partnering with local ministries, our outreach team helps meet needs, build relationships, and make a lasting impact in our community and beyond.
Media Team
Our media and communications team helps tell the story of what God is doing at First Methodist. From running slides and livestreams to capturing photos, creating videos, or crafting social posts, this team uses creativity and technology to inspire connection and engagement both in-person and online.
Prayer & Pastoral Care
Prayer is the foundation of our ministry. This team walks alongside those in need—lifting up requests, visiting the sick or homebound, and offering encouragement and hope. Whether through quiet prayer or hands-on care, those who serve help share the compassion of Christ with our church family.
Other Ways To Serve
Every gift and helping hand makes a difference. From decorating for special seasons to setting up for events, assisting with transportation, or helping in the office, there’s a place for everyone to serve and make First Methodist feel like home.
